This work is the result of master's research in the professional modality in Exact Sciences Teaching. Among the emerging empirical results, this analysis will highlight the contributions of scientific initiation to the development of epistemic practices linked to the social dimension of science. The scientific initiation meetings were conducted at a public school in Mato Grosso, with a 3rd-year class of High School. The theoretical framework of analysis dialogues with research contributions on the development of critical thinking and with guidelines on inquiry-based teaching. The empirical data emerged from focus groups and the field diaries of the students and the researcher. In general terms, it was possible to conclude that scientific initiation provided the opportunity to experience epistemic practices linked to the production and communication of knowledge. Among them, the development of argumentation in different stages of the research carried out by the students stands out.
