Resumo: Current essay is a reflection on the convergence between rationalization and the disenchantment of the world based on Weber's concepts on Protestant ethics and Capitalism. We live in a society whose dominant thought is governed by linear causality and mechanistic thinking in virtually all vectors. Although we know that these concepts were placed in suspension a long time ago, the mindset still persists. The theme of reason is a complex matter and the evolution of the human sciences could be described as an endless debate on reason. The capitalist civilization established rationalism is that we experience today, with hegemony of behaviors and streamlined ideas, expelling other beliefs and possibilities, denying with its monologic speech, the diversity of myth, mysticism and metaphysics. The rationalist and anti-heroic civilization, predominant by a rationalizing bourgeoisie, reshapes methods and purposes. However, it is a high price to pay for progress.

However, it is a high price to pay for progress. Universidade Estadual De Maringá2015-08-19info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionEnsaioapplication/pdfhttp://www.periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/ActaSciHumanSocSci/article/view/2624310.4025/actascihumansoc.v37i1.26243Acta Scientiarum.
