Resumo: | Besides their contributions to faith, the sixteenth century Reformation theologians also encouraged popular education. The Reformation made use of education to: a) divulge God’s word; b) teach the new catechism; and c) train ministers for the churches. This was not different with John Calvin (1509-1564). In his faith model, education had a fundamental role and without it Calvinism would not have survived. According to the study of Calvin’s masterpiece (Christianae Religionis Institutio), published in 1536, we can realize that education was an omnipresent and implicit element in Calvin’s work as a whole. |

Universidade Estadual De Maringá2007-09-28info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://www.periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/ActaSciHumanSocSci/article/view/15110.4025/actascihumansoc.v28i2.151Acta Scientiarum.
