The secondary education students' involvement in physical education classes: some considerations

Resumo: This research aims to verify the involvement of High School students in Physical Education classes. The research involved two private schools located in the East District of São Paulo City, Brazil, as well as 4 Physical Education teachers and 446 high school students. It was developed a field research using as instruments: the observation during 80 hours/classes; a questionnaire for the students and an interview with the teachers. Among the present establishments to the data analysis, it was noticed that 70% of the students attend to Physical Education classes because they like, although 46% of the students are not involved in the classes. The research shows that there is a strong relationship among the teacher's behaviour, the contents proposal, the students' involvement and expectation in class.

A pesquisa envolveu duas escolas privadas da Zona Leste de São Paulo, bem como 446 alunos do Ensino Médio e 4 professores de Educação Física. Realizou-se um levantamento bibliográfico e, em seguida, uma pesquisa de campo, utilizando-se como instrumentos a observação de 80 horas/aula, aplicação de questionário para alunos e entrevista com professores. Entre as constatações presentes na análise dos dados destaca-se que 49% dos alunos questionados fazem aula de Educação Física porque gostam e têm seus interesses atendidos; no entanto, em 46% das aulas observadas não ocorreu a participação de todos os alunos, sendo que em 75% delas foi proposto apenas o esporte propriamente dito como conteúdo. A intervenção dos professores quanto à ausência ou desistência das aulas por parte dos alunos foi quase nula.
