Resumo: The present study aims to verify if there is an association between early life factors (birth weight, exclusive breastfeeding, birth order and preterm birth) and accelerometry-based physical activity measures in children aged 5 to 7 years old. It is a cross-sectional study carried out with children from public and private schools in Recife, Brazil. A questionnaire was applied to the children's parents. Of the 784 children participating in the study, 491 had at least three days of valid monitoring. It was possible to identify that the children classified as the fourth ones, as to birth order, or over, were 83% less likely to have a low percentage of daily time spent on moderate-intensity physical activities compared to firstborns (OR = 0.17; 0.03-0.80). Only birth order was negatively associated with low percentage of daily time spent on moderate physical activities, even after adjustment for confounding factors.

Department of Physical Education - State University of Maringá (UEM), Maringá-PR, Brazil2020-04-04info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/4466510.4025/jphyseduc.v31i1.3138Journal of Physical Education; Vol 31 No 1 (2020); e-3138Journal of Physical Education; Vol. 31 Núm. 1 (2020); e-3138Journal of Physical Education; v. 31 n. 1 (2020); e-31382448-2455reponame:Journal of Physical Education (Maringá)instname:Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)instacron:UEMengporhttps://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/44665/751375149842https://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/article/view/44665/751375149843Copyright (c) 2020 Journal of Physical Educationhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAndrade, Maria Laura Siqueira de SouzaHardman, Carla MenêsesBarros, Mauro Virgílio Gomes de2021-04-29T13:29:23Zoai:periodicos.uem.br/ojs:article/44665Revistahttp://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/RevEducFis/indexPUBhttps://old.scielo.br/oai/scielo-oai.php||revdef@uem.br2448-24552448-2455opendoar:2021-04-29T13:29:23Journal of Physical Education (Maringá) - Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM)false
