INNOVATION IN PEACE ENFORCEMENT: A DISCUSSION ON PERSPECTIVES OF FORCE INTERVENTION BRIGADE IN MONUSCO

Resumo: This article seeks to present, analyse and discuss the innovation in peace enforcement of UnitedNations Organisation Stabilisation Mission in Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO), while discourses perspectives on Force Intervention Brigade's (FIB) trajectory, the first force allowed to perform offensive operations under the Organisation’s scope, with the aim of neutralise rebel groups in the country’s East. The creation of this component has generated implications for international law and changed the conduct of UN before the conflict and instability scenario of the country. To achieve this, the methodology used was an extensive bibliographic review on the issue of peace enforcement missions, focusing on reports and resolutions that refer to MONUSCO, in addition to national and international journals, as well as productions of think tanks and reports by organisations specialised in issues.

A criação desse componente gerou implicações para o direito internacional e modificou a conduta da ONU frente ao cenário de conflito e instabilidade do país.
