Resumo: This paper aims to analyze the themes and arguments that emerged from the debate about homeschooling in television programs. For this purpose, a documentary investigation of four videos of television debates was carried out, with content analysis. The basis for the analysis was the academic Brazilian literature critical of homeschooling and in favor of school education. The arguments were grouped in the following blocks: legislation and rights; school education versus homeschooling; violences; socialization in school and family; values; teaching of contents; profile of the families; supervision and costs of homeschooling; and learning and evaluation. The analysis identified the predominance and types of arguments either in critical and favorable discourses on homeschooling, as well as some silencing, contributing for the advancement of the debates in and out of the academy. Para ello, se recurrió a una investigación documental de cuatro videos de debate televisivo, con análisis de contenido. La base para el análisis fue la producción académica brasileña crítica a la DE y defensora de la educación escolar. Los argumentos fueron agrupados en los siguientes bloques: legislación y derechos; educación escolar versus educación domiciliaria; violencias; socialización en la escuela y en la familia; valores; enseñanza de los contenidos; perfil de las familias; supervisión y costos de ED; y aprendizaje y evaluación. El análisis realizado identificó el predominio y los tipos de argumentos en los discursos críticos y en defensa de la ED, así como algunos silencios, pudiendo contribuir al avance de los debates en la academia y fuera de ella. Para tal, recorreu-se a uma pesquisa documental de quatro vídeos de debates televisivos, com análise de conteúdo. A base para a análise foi a produção acadêmica brasileira crítica à ED e defensora da educação escolar. Os argumentos foram agrupados nos seguintes blocos: legislação e direitos; educação escolar versus educação domiciliar; violências; socialização na escola e na família; valores; ensino dos conteúdos; perfil das famílias; fiscalização e custos da ED; e aprendizagem e avaliação. A análise realizada identificou a predominância e os tipos de argumentos nos discursos críticos e em defesa da ED, assim como alguns silenciamentos, podendo contribuir para o avanço dos debates na academia e fora dela.
