Resumo: This paper aims to pay tribute to Ana Maria Morais, coordinator of the ESSA Group (Sociological Studies of the Classroom Group) which was part of the Unit for Research and Development in Education and Training (UIDEF) of the Institute of Education of the University of Lisbon. This tribute intends to highlight her academic legacy, of great professional merit and intellectual rigor, with a vast body of work in the fields of science education and sociology of education. It is enhanced her crucial role on the development of a pioneering research centred on the interaction between science education and sociology of education having as conceptual support the theory of the English sociologist Basil Bernstein. It is also referred her important role while defending a science education centred on scientific quality and rigor and a conceptually demanding education for all students. Ana Maria Morais.Este artículo tiene como objetivo rendir homenaje a Ana Maria Morais, coordinadora del Grupo ESSA (Estudios Sociológicos en el Aula) que formó parte de la Unidad de Investigación y Desarrollo en Educación y Formación (UIDEF) del Instituto de Educación de la Universidad de Lisboa. Este homenaje pretende destacar su legado académico, de gran mérito profesional y enorme rigor intelectual, con una vasta obra en los campos de la didáctica de las ciencias y la sociología de la educación. Se destaca su papel crucial en el desarrollo de una investigación pionera centrada en la interacción entre la enseñanza de las ciencias y la sociología de la educación, teniendo como soporte conceptual la teoría del sociólogo inglés Basil Bernstein. También se refiere a su importante papel como una de las voces destacadas de la defensa de una enseñanza de las ciencias centrada en la calidad y el rigor científicos y de una educación conceptualmente exigente para todos los alumnos.
