Paulo Freire’s contributions in India and its connections with Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar’s philosophy: expressions of internationalization

Resumo: This article discusses Paulo Freire’s contributions in India and his connections with the neo-humanist philosophy proposed by Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar, a perspective that has been little explored. It also deals with the internationalization movement that Freire forged in exile until he arrived in India. It draws on woks by Freire, interviews and articles that address his experience in India, works by Sarkar and internationalization scholars. Freire identified many cultural differences, emphasizing the need for an educational project committed to the liberation of oppressed castes and the participation of the oppressed in the process. His dialogue with non-governmental organizations strengthened local educational experiences of liberation, especially in rural areas. Freire and Sarkar are ontologically connected by announcing a praxis focused on social transformation, anchored in a universalist, sustainable and socially just vision, in defense of a liberating education, based on interculturality, ethics, science, philosophy and spirituality. Trata, aún, del movimiento de internacionalización que Freire forjó en el exilio hasta llegar a India. Se basa en obras de Freire, entrevistas y artículos que abordan su experiencia en India, obras de Sarkar y estudiosos de internacionalización. Freire identificó muchas diferencias culturales, enfatizando la necesidad de un proyecto educativo comprometido con la liberación de las castas oprimidas y la participación de los oprimidos en el proceso. Su interlocución con organizaciones no gubernamentales fortaleció experiencias educativas locales de liberación, especialmente en áreas rurales. Freire y Sarkar están ontológicamente conectados al anunciar una praxis centrada en la transformación social, anclada en una visión universalista, sostenible y socialmente justa, en defensa de una educación liberadora basada en la interculturalidad, en la ética, en la ciencia, en la filosofía y en la espiritualidad. Sua interlocução com Organizações não Governamentais fortaleceu experiências educativas locais de libertação, sobretudo em áreas rurais. Freire e Sarkar estão ontologicamente conectados ao anunciarem uma práxis voltada à transformação social, ancorada em uma visão universalista, sustentável e socialmente justa, na defesa de uma educação libertadora, baseada na interculturalidade, na ética, na ciência, na filosofia e na espiritualidade.
