The smartphone use in Spanish language classes from the student’s perspective

Resumo: | This article presents an exploratory, qualitative approach that investigated 370 students from a municipal school in São Caetano do Sul/SP, and aimed at identify if the student uses the smartphone autonomously in Spanish language classes with a focus on learning the language, analyze how he uses it, and raise his/her ideal vision about this use. The data were collected from an elaborate class activity in Google Forms with alternative questions, Likert scale, and essay questions. The responses were submitted to the content analysis method and cataloged in semantic fields. The research revealed that student makes autonomous use of the smartphone and to him/her this use seems to be exactly what he/her already does, in short, consulting dictionaries and translators, photographing the slate and later to copying information in the notebook and sharing them with the friends. Education.Este artículo presenta una investigación exploratoria, de abordaje cualitativa, que examinó 370 alumnos de una escuela municipal en São Caetano do Sul/SP, y tuvo por objetivo identificar si el alumno utiliza autónomamente el smartphone en las clases de Lengua Española con enfoque en el aprendizaje del idioma, analizar cómo lo utiliza, y levantar su visión ideal a respecto de este uso. Los datos fueron colectados de una actividad de clase elaborada en el Google Forms con cuestiones alternativas, escala de Likert, y cuestiones ensayo. Las respuestas fueron sometidas al método de análisis de contenido y catalogadas en campos semánticos. La investigación reveló que el alumno hace uso autónomo del smartphone y que, para él, su uso ideal es exactamente lo que él ya hace, resumiéndose a consultar diccionarios y traductores, fotografiar la pizarra para posteriormente copiar en el cuaderno las informaciones y compartirlas con los colegas. Educación.Este artigo apresenta uma pesquisa exploratória, de abordagem qualitativa, que investigou 370 alunos de uma escola municipal em São Caetano do Sul/SP, e teve por objetivo identificar se o aluno utiliza, autonomamente, o smartphone nas aulas de Língua Espanhola com foco na aprendizagem do idioma, analisar como o utiliza, e levantar sua visão ideal sobre este uso. Os dados foram coletados de uma atividade de aula elaborada no Google Forms com questões alternativas, escala de Likert e questões dissertativas. As respostas foram submetidas ao método de análise de conteúdo e catalogadas em campos semânticos. A pesquisa revelou que o aluno faz uso autônomo do smartphone e que, para ele, seu uso ideal é exatamente o que já faz, resumindo-se a consultar dicionários e tradutores, fotografar a lousa para posteriormente copiar, no caderno, as informações e compartilhá-las com os colegas.
