The struggle of the MST against traditional media and the use of ICTs

Contemporary social movements emphasize communication as an active means of propagating their ideologies. Represented here by the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST), a typical social movement, engaged in the struggle for land and Popular Agrarian Reform, against the outlawings of the capitalist system, an institution that promotes justice and the social inclusion of thousands of people and issues such as the commercialization and unilateralisation of the media, created and organized an effective communication sector. With the advent of information and communication technologies (ICTs), they added to their daily lives the digital tools available for the dissemination of their ideas, horizontally and autonomously. The method used is the deductive, with qualitative research of a theoretical nature of bibliographical revision. We conclude that the MST appropriately appropriates the virtual mechanisms provided by the internet, creating a counter-hegemonic field to the system and paying attention to the issue of digital exclusion.
