Analysis of Curriculum Environmentalization in Law Courses in the countryside of São Paulo State, Brazil

Resumo: This research examines the environmental content and initiatives integrated into the Pedagogical Project of the Course and the Coursework of Law programs at two universities in the western region of São Paulo state, Brazil. Through a qualitative approach, we apply the research method of the Higher Education Environmentalization and Sustainability Network (RASES), developed by the Higher Education Curricular Environmentalization Network (ACES Network) and the Indicator Network Project of Sustainable Universities, pioneers in sustainability indicators and curricular environmentalization in Latin American universities. We categorized the data collected from curricular documents into 11 dimensions using keywords based on the definition of each dimension. We conducted lexical searches in institutional documents, and the results indicate that the two universities have low levels of insertion of the environmental dimension in their curricular documents. Due to the lack of interdisciplinarity, the few insertions are not part of implementing curricular environmentalization, although we identified disciplines aligned towards education and sustainability awareness. We conclude that the existing obstacles relate to the lack of topic prioritization.

El enfoque metodológico empleado es cualitativo. Como base de análisis, se adoptó el método de investigación de la Red de Ambientalización y Sostenibilidad en la Educación Superior (RASES), que en Brasil se origina a partir de los estudios de la Red de Ambientalización Curricular del Ensino Superior (Red ACES) y del Proyecto "Red de Indicadores de Universidades Sostenibles", pioneras en indicadores de sostenibilidad y ambientalización curricular en Instituciones de Educación Superior en el contexto de América Latina. Los datos recopilados de los documentos curriculares analizados en este estudio están categorizados en 11 dimensiones de investigación. A través de palabras clave, basadas en la definición de cada dimensión, se realizaron búsquedas léxicas en los documentos institucionales. Los resultados indican que las dos instituciones tienen bajos niveles de integración de la dimensión ambiental en sus documentos curriculares y las pocas integraciones no forman parte de un proceso de ambientalización curricular debido a la falta de interdisciplinariedad, aunque se han identificado disciplinas alineadas con la formación y concienciación para la sostenibilidad. Se percibe que los obstáculos existentes están relacionados con la falta de priorización del tema.Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar o conteúdo ambiental e as ações presentes no Projeto Pedagógico do Curso e no Plano de Ensino do curso de Direito em duas Instituições de Ensino Superior, localizadas no interior oeste do Estado de São Paulo, Brasil. A abordagem metodológica empregada é qualitativa. Como base de análise, adotou-se o método de investigação da Rede de Ambientalização e Sustentabilidade na Educação Superior (RASES), que no Brasil é resultante dos estudos da Rede de Ambientalização Curricular do Ensino Superior (Rede ACES) e do Projeto Rede de Indicadores de Universidades Sustentáveis, pioneiras em indicadores de sustentabilidade e ambientalização curricular em Instituições de Ensino Superior no contexto da América Latina. Os dados coletados nos documentos curriculares analisados nesta pesquisa estão categorizados em 11 dimensões de investigação. Por meio de palavras-chave, a partir da definição de cada dimensão, foram realizadas buscas lexicais nos documentos institucionais. Os resultados apontam que as duas Instituições apresentam níveis baixos de inserção da dimensão ambiental em seus documentos curriculares e, as poucas inserções não fazem parte de um processo de instalação de ambientalização curricular, devido à ausência de interdisciplinaridade, embora tenham sido identificadas disciplinas alinhadas com a formação e sensibilização para a sustentabilidade.
