Children’s Participation in the Design of Ludic Spaces in Early Childhood Education Schools

Resumo: This article proposes some reflection upon the relationship between architecture and early childhood education, mainly regarding the children’s participation in the design of spaces. We introduce the educational thoughts of authors who conceived space as an education environment. In the study on the architecture of school buildings, we emphasize external spaces and the importance of the children’s participation in the creation of such environments. Finally, we analyze the experience of the project of building a model road for toy cars in a municipal early childhood education school (EMEI - Escola Municipal de Educação Infantil) in Belo Horizonte as part of an action in the qualification of students from the Education Course in the Teaching Initiation Scholarship Institutional Program, PIBID/UFMG. The new environment was integrated to the children’s ludic activities and broadened the possibilities of external use of the school space. It also enabled a strong case study to be considered in the education of new teachers.

Son presentados diversos pensamientos de autores que concibieron estos espacios como ambientes educativos. Al estudiar la arquitectura de los predios escolares, se busca dar destaque a los espacios externos y a la importancia de la participación de los niños en la creación de dichos ambientes. Finalmente, se analiza la experiencia que trajo la realización del proyecto de construcción de una pista de carritos en una Escuela Municipal de Educación Infantil (EMEI) en el Estado de Belo Horizonte, como parte de las actividades de formación de los estudiantes de Pedagogía del Programa Institucional de Docencia de la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais (PIBID/UFMG). La metodología escogida fue una investigación-acción colaborativa. Se concluye que este nuevo ambiente fue apropiado para los juegos y actividades lúdicas, ampliando las posibilidades de uso de espacios externos a la escuela. También tornó posible un potente estudio de caso para la formación de futuras profesoras en este campo.O artigo apresenta algumas reflexões sobre as relações entre a arquitetura e a educação infantil, especificamente sobre a participação das crianças na projeção dos espaços. Apresentamos os pensamentos educacionais de autores que conceberam o espaço como ambiente educativo. No estudo sobre arquitetura dos prédios escolares, damos destaque para os espaços externos e a importância da participação das crianças na criação destes ambientes. Ao final, analisamos a experiência do projeto de construção de uma pista de carrinhos em uma Escola Municipal de Educação Infantil (EMEI) de Belo Horizonte como parte da ação de formação de estudantes de Pedagogia do Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à Docência, PIBID / UFMG. A metodologia escolhida foi a pesquisa-ação colaborativa. O novo ambiente foi apropriado nas brincadeiras das crianças e ampliou as possibilidades de uso dos espaços externos da escola.
