State of exception, neoliberalism and education: the question of human dignity

Resumo: | Based on contemporary theories on the State of exception and neoliberal rationality, the present study aimed to answer the following question: do neoliberal policies for Brazilian education contribute to the ineffectiveness of the principle of human dignity? Such an investigation is urgent, especially because human dignity is the foundation of the Brazilian Republic and democratic rule of law. As specific objectives, the research conceptualized the constitutional principle of the dignity of the human person and, subsequently, related it to the context of neoliberal education policies and to the concept of the State of exception. The methodology was based on a bibliographical research of a hermeneutic and qualitative nature for the application of the theoretical framework adopted, since the study deals with investigating the study tried to investigate a political and social phenomenon. In the end, it is concluded that such rationality, allied to recent educational policies, promote a structural degradation of democracy, since it exhaust the effectiveness of one of its main foundations, the dignity of the human person. |

Tal investigación es urgente, especialmente porque la dignidad humana es el fundamento de la República Brasileña y del Estado democrático de derecho. Como objetivos específicos, la investigación conceptualizó el principio constitucional de la dignidad de la persona humana y, posteriormente, lo relacionó con el contexto de las políticas educativas neoliberales y con el concepto de Estado de excepción. La metodología se basó en una revisión bibliográfica de carácter hermenéutico y cualitativo para la aplicación del marco teórico adoptado, ya que el estudio trató de investigar un fenómeno político y social. Al final, se concluye que tal racionalidad, combinado con las políticas educativas recientes, promueve una degradación estructural de la democracia, ya que agota la efectividad de uno de sus principales fundamentos, la dignidad de la persona humana.Partindo das teorias contemporâneas acerca do Estado de exceção e da racionalidade neoliberal, o presente estudo teve como intuito responder à seguinte questão: as políticas neoliberais para a educação brasileira contribuem para a inefetividade do princípio da dignidade da pessoa humana? Tal investigação mostra-se urgente, sobretudo porque a dignidade humana figura como fundamento da República e do Estado democrático de direito brasileiros. Como objetivo específico a pesquisa conceituou o princípio constitucional da dignidade da pessoa humana e, posteriormente, relacionou-o ao contexto das políticas neoliberais da educação e com o conceito de Estado de exceção. A metodologia se baseou em uma pesquisa bibliográfica de caráter hermenêutico e qualitativo para a aplicação do referencial teórico adotado, visto que o estudo tratou de investigar um fenômeno político e social.
