Paulo Freire and world-education: training for freedom and living in the city

Resumo: Considering the importance of experience in the city for education, this work aims to understand, in the context of research-training in cyberculture, how Paulo Freire´s theory of knowledge can be intertwined with studies that expand education beyond schools, considering students´; experiences in their territories, cultures, and identities built in urban experiences. The theoretical framework comprises studies by Paulo Freire and other authors that relate education and the city. We used the methods of research-training in cyberculture. Our research context was the Teacher training for communication, culture and art course (Formação docente para comunicação, cultura e arte). We sought to dialogue with the data based on three notions: a problematizing existence that changes the world, a teaching approach that respects the students´ knowledge, and hopes for a new world. We believe in Freirean education to resignify urban experiences and perceptions, which are essential for building a more just and diverse world.

We believe in Freirean education to resignify urban experiences and perceptions, which are essential for building a more just and diverse world.Considerando la importancia de la vivencia en la ciudad para la educación, este trabajo tiene como objetivo comprender —dentro del contexto de la investigación-formación en cibercultura— cómo la teoría del conocimiento de Paulo Freire puede entrelazarse con los estudios de la expansión de la educación más allá de las instituciones escolares; valorando las vivencias de los estudiantes dentro de sus territorios, sus culturas y sus identidades, construidas  con base en sus experiencias urbanas. El marco teórico está fundamentado en los trabajos de Paulo Freire y otros autores que relacionan educación y ciudad. Utilizando la metodología de investigación-formación en cibercultura, esta investigación tuvo como escenario el curso de Formación de Profesores en Comunicación, Cultura y Arte. Buscamos dialogar con los datos a partir de tres nociones: la existencia problematizadora que cambia el mundo, la docencia que respeta los conocimientos de los estudiantes, y esperanzar un mundo nuevo. Para poder resignificar las experiencias y percepciones del urbano, la Educación Freiriana se muestra como fundamental en la construcción de un mundo más justo y diverso.Considerando a importância da vivência da e na cidade para a educação, este trabalho objetiva compreender, em contexto de pesquisa-formação na cibercultura, como a teoria do conhecimento de Paulo Freire pode ser entrelaçada com os estudos de ampliação da educação para além das instituições escolares, considerando a vivência dos estudantes em seus territórios, suas culturas e suas identidades construídas nas experiências urbanas. O referencial teórico é constituído pelas obras de Paulo Freire e de outros autores que relacionam educação e cidade. Utilizando a metodologia da pesquisa-formação na cibercultura, o contexto da pesquisa foi no curso Formação docente para comunicação, cultura e arte. Buscamos conversar com os dados a partir de três noções: existência problematizadora que modifica o mundo, docência que respeite os saberes dos educandos e esperançar um novo mundo.
