Resumo: The problem of the generation of electro-electronic waste (REE) by the population is increasingly present. The technologies become obsolete in a matter of time and they see trash, polluting the environment and causing damages to the health. In this way, it is irrefutable that the school community has knowledge about the problem of REE generation and the solutions on this topic. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the consumption and post-consumption of the digital equipment by students of the ninth grade in a Municipality of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The methodology used consisted of the application of a questionnaire in three schools of the municipal network one rural and two urban. The questionnaire consisted of ten multiple-choice questions, which was applied after approval by the ethics committee in the Brazil Platform (CAAE 59683716.4.0000.8059), for sixty students in the second half of 2016. As a result, it was possible to observe that the degree of student interest in environmental issues is reasonable. The useful life of electronics, such as mobile phones, is short, with more than 50% of respondents using it for only two to five years. And at the end of the useful life of cell phones, more than 50% prefer to save, rather than carry out recycling practices. It is also noted that more than 60% of students are unaware of reverse logistics policies. Therefore, the results clearly express that young person are aware of environmental problems, but with little interest.

Therefore, the results clearly express that young person are aware of environmental problems, but with little interest.
