Resumo: In order to understand the legal teaching from nineteenth centrury and the beginning of the twentieth century, between the years 1893-1913, this article seeks to understand how the formation of an elite was destined to make up the country's administrative crew through its records written in the Revista da Faculdade de Direito. This article intends to analyze how legal education was given at the first Faculty of Law in Brazil, in São Paulo, articulating conflicts about theories and methodologies for the education of law. It seeks to capture, through the documents collected, having an academic journal as a source, what were the objectives of such teaching, how it was presented in the curricular aspect and what was expected of the young bachelor in the construction of a new idea of nation.
