Resumo: | This thesis addresses the theme of the uncanny and the double through the articulation between psychoanalysis, literature and cinema. We conducted a bibliographic research in the work of Sigmund Freud, Jacques Lacan, other psychoanalyst authors and other related areas, aiming at the texts that the uncanny, the double and the concepts that articulate with this theme. We selected the following literary texts and films to address the different representations of the double: – The other as double: the tale William Wilson (1839) by Edgar Allan Poe and Michelangelo Antonioni's film The Passenger - Profession: Reporter (1975); – The other as a reflection in the mirror: the text The picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and the film The Student of Prague (1913) by Stellan Rye and Paul Wegener; – The other as a menacing figure: the fantastic tale The Horla (1886) by Guy de Maupassant and the film The Thing (2011) by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. This theme has been manifested in various ways in the literary texts: double, shadow, echo, twins, image obtained in the portrait and reflection in the mirror. The double was inaugurated by Plautus’ Amphitryon. Even Lacan says in The Seminar, book 2: the Ego in Freud's Theory and in the Technique of Psychoanalysis (1954-1955), that was Plautus who introduced the concept of double. |

Submitted by Mariangela CEH/A (marianfig@gmail.com) on 2022-03-22T16:05:24Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Tese - Selma de Abreu Camargo - 2020 - Completa.pdf: 1167484 bytes, checksum: 23672a7f196d80ade5285edbc8b007b9 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-03-22T16:05:24Z (GMT).
