This study aimed to collect, organize and analyze all the interviews given by former President Lula in 2018/2019, during his political arrest in Curitiba / PR, due to his convictions by Operation Car Wash. Besides being an important historical record, the interviews present the political analysis and thoughts of Lula, a character who remained at the center of global geopolitics, even during the isolation imposed by the long process of judicial persecution to which he was submitted. It is understood that Operation Car Wash was a neoliberal strategy to limit Brazilian sovereignty, then in the process of diplomatic and economic consolidation, due mainly to the important discovery of oil reserves off the Brazilian coast, the pre-salt. In addition to the political considerations and analyses made by Lula, a unique ethical and human dimension emerge with great force which allow us to characterize him as parrhesiast – a philosophical category developed by the philosopher Michel Foucault, which implies the care for oneself and the courage of truth. Finally, it demosntrates that Lula's personal resistance in affirming his innocence was a decisive factor – added to the technical defense and the leak of messages between prosecutors and judges – to make the Justice System review his conviction, overturn the sentences and grant him full freedom.
