O monstro e o herói: uma ressignificação do clássico em HQs do Hulk

This paper which is linked to the Postgraduate Programme in Letter and Linguistic studies (PPLIN) and to an ongoing research project ( Programa Prociência ) entitled Discussões e Releituras de Literatura na Contemporaneidade: a Transposição Midiática , coordinated by Professor Maria Cristina Cardoso Ribas adopts an inclusive attitude towards comic books, also presented in this study by the nomenclature HQs or, as it is also known in different literary productions, by the term graphic novel, as regards the reading process, which we must deal broadly and non-cartesian way. Thus, this dissertation aims to propose a reinterpretation of the mythical classic in literature, here restricted to the influences of the Greco-Roman culture Teogonia (HESÍODO, 1991), Frankenstein (SHELLEY, 2017) and The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (STEVENSON, 2015) starting from the observation of the Hulk character and from issues such as the figure of the monster, the hero and the monstrosity (JEHA, 2007; 2009), both in literature and in the social environment. In this direction, it is worth noting that our methodology is not quantitative, but qualitative and analytical in order to relate interpretative possibilities between productions of the different media. As study corpus, we will use the following compilation of comic books: 1) The incredible Hulk; 2) The incredible Hulk dogs of war; 3) The incredible Hulk planet Hulk. In addition, this study focuses, as a theoretical and critical basis, on Clover s (2011) reflections on intermidialities, and the reverbarations of Rajewsky (2012) and Ribas (2014). Morover, in order to investigate the literature review on image reading, we drew our analysis on the studies of Eisner (2010), Santaella (2015) e Nikolajeva (2011). Finally, the research is interested in composing a field of action in multiple media, in a way to broaden the epistemological knowledge and to provide new possibilities to approach readings in classrooms.
