Resumo: A contemporary challenge for Public Health in Brazil is thinking about the health offered to the LGBT public. In this list of guidelines is mental health care, a fundamental component to be considered, considering the overlapping of vulnerabilities to which they are subject daily and systematically in a sexist, transphobic and misogynist society. Thus, the following study aimed to analyze the prevalence of interpersonal violence and the factors associated with self-inflicted violence in a group of transvestites and transsexual women in Rio de Janeiro and the Metropolitan Region. Methodology: This is a quantitative cross-sectional study developed at the Instituto Nacional de Infectologia da Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, conducted between July 2019 and March 2020, resulting in a sample of 139 participants. The variables of interest study were suicidal ideation, suicide attempt and self-harm. Univariate analyzes were performed, where the prevalences and the respective 95% confidence intervals were calculated. Bivariate analyzes were performed by calculating the prevalence and odds ratios (OR) through regression models, considering statistical significance when α values were lower than 0.05 and for multiple analyzes it was performed logistic regression arriving at the final model using the stepwise backward technique. Results: The prevalence of suicidal ideation was 29%, suicide attempts occurred in 9% of the participants and 7% of them presented self-abusive behavior. Grouped data show that 30% suffered self-inflicted violence. The results showed that the self-reported HIV positive status is related to suicidal ideation (OR=2,38; IC95%: 1,09–5,21; p-valor=0,030) and the imminence of self-inflicted violence (OR=2,28; IC95%: 1,06–4,90; p-valor=0,035), that emotional abuse is related to the suicide attempt (OR=9,00; IC95%: 1,13–71,34; p-valor=0,038) and that psychological violence is related to the self-abusive behavior (OR=11,64; IC95%: 2,35 – 57,5; p-valor=0,003). Conclusion: Both physical factors and from acquired infections, and psycho-emotional factors have an influence on a favorable outcome for suicidal behavior and self-abuse. And, in this scope, Nursing assumes a leading role, considering the object of its labor is based on individual and collective care in an integral way, considering all biopsychosocial, cultural and spiritual aspects making it possible to plan, from its singularities, an expanded care. Nurses' training allows their look at the individual, total and complex, under their care, to be technical, scientific and ethical, but also holistic, human and empathic, thus managing to establish bonds and manage situations experienced from the proposition of strategies aimed at the salutogenesis of transvestites and trans women, especially in the health-promoting logic. However, the alert emerges so that further investigations are carried out in order to respond to other gaps and that new ways of producing intersectoral and health public policies are designed with a view to changing the social reality of these women.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Tese - Davi Gomes Depret - 2022 - Completa.pdf: 5189335 bytes, checksum: 1c1dbbc5d0a1344a32e09db2a5928b77 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2023-02-08T17:01:15Z (GMT).
