The research aims to analyze the history of the teachers in the Regional School of Meriti, which was an institution known to have been founded by teacher Armanda Álvaro Alberto, an intellectual participant of the Columbian movement in the 1920s. As a temporal cut, the research covered the period of 1921, the year of formation of the Proletarian School of Meriti until 1954, when there was the action of the teacher Martha Ignez Rossi, considering her importance for the school institution. We intend to identify the teaching staff of the school between the years 1921 and 1954, trying to register the contents and crafts taught, the forms of selection and the professional profiles, perceiving their influences in the formation of the students. We seek to understand the contribution of teachers in the consolidation process of the school project in Baixada Fluminense. The study aims to analyze the influence of teachers in the community of Merit, perceiving the interfaces between local history and the school institution. Faced with this prerogative, we intend to show how the school has represented and saw the territory to which it was inserted. Concerning the debates about ruralism and Escolanovismo in Meriti, we try to investigate how they exerted influence in the magisterium of the school, identifying the sociopedagogical mechanisms employed by the teachers in the student s formation. Through Antonio Nóvoa and Libânia Xavier we tried to understand the course of the historical teaching profession. In the understanding of the local territory, we have adopted as theoretical reference the concept of region and region proposed by Luciano Mendes Faria Filho as a position of analysis and epistemological sense. For the perception of the local history of Duque de Caxias, we appropriated the processes of reading the works of Marúcia Santos de Souza, Tânia Amaro and Antonio Augusto Braz.
