Resumo: | The plant species Plumbago scandens present in the Marambaia sandbank in the city of Rio de Janeiro is used in popular medicine, but its chemical composition and antioxidant activity is not widely known.Plumbago scandens leaves and stems were extracted using organic solvents with different polarities, via soxhlet. Then, the extracts were quantified and their antioxidant activity was evaluated using total phenolic content, total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity by the method of capture free radicals DPPH. The result obtained for the total phenol content for P. scandens hexane extract was 44.82 EGA/g and for the ethyl acetate extract 140.72 EGA /g, the total flavonoid content for the hexanic extract was 44.99 mg EQC/g and for the extract ethyl acetate 73.52 mg EQC/g. The results of antioxidant activity by the DPPH method was EC50 100 μg/mL for the hexane extract and 35 μg / mL for the ethyl acetate extract. In the phytochemical study of the Plumbago scandens hexane extract, the following compounds were identified via gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and confirmed by comparison with reference standards or 1H and 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy: Plumbagine (5-hydroxy-2-methyl-1 , 4 naphthoquinone), a compound present in Plumbago species, already detected in the species studied; Three compounds not previously found in Plumbago scandens: Tocopherol (Vitamin E) and the α- and β-amyrin triterpenes |

No. of bitstreams: 1 Vanessa Amaral Carneiro.pdf: 2163862 bytes, checksum: 8e02234f3b3a39c2f5221240998ffb47 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-07T19:04:28Z (GMT).
