The formation of Brazilian social and educational thought from the studies about the matrixes of the authoritarian ideas conceived during the Brazilian Republic. The History of the University in Brazil and the identification of a lineage of intellectuals, their political doctrine affiliations that formulated the Brazilian social thought, their world views before a national project of development. The modernization performed by the higher positions, expression that summarized the presence of political elite when the country was thought of, a permanent reflection as a principle and the political actions during the Brazilian Republic. The civil-military regime and the imposition of an order and mentality which led the country to a new phase of authoritarianism, its developments in the educational legislations that defined the policies of post-graduation courses at the end of the 1960s. The 1980s were the scenery of transition between the civil-military regime and the civil power at an atmosphere of strong presence of a civil society growing towards the defense of democracy. Brazilian education is seen from a perspective of a group of intellectuals educators that contributed to a methodological and theoretical consensus based on eclectic Marxism and that determined an interpretive look before the school and the concepts of democracy and participation
