Resumo: The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate how the expanded radio helps to re-signify the identity of Brazilians living in Barcelona and what are the factors that drive this consumption. For this purpose, a theoretical basis that allows a broad approach to the reality of the migrant and which influences the way in which their media and symbolic consumption occurs was analyzed. Therefore, two distinct theoretical groups are separated, but complementary to each other: the radio and the diaspora. In the first group, regarding radio, the condition of expanded radio, memory, affection and music are addressed as forms of identity bonding. The second group, concerning diaspora, questions of migration, identity and Brazilianness are stressed. In the end, all of these concepts are tensioned in order to understand how the analyzed situation occurs. The empirical stage was carried out during the period of occurrence of the researcher's sandwich doctorate, in the city of Barcelona, Spain. Two steps were taken to approach the field. The first was the inclusion of the author in WhatsApp and Facebook groups of Brazilians living in Barcelona. The second was the sending of a questionnaire in these same groups, in order to map the possible profiles of Brazilian migrants. With the result of the questionnaires, semi-structured interviews were in order, which was the empirical method used. Twenty people of different profiles were interviewed regarding their age, regions of origin and time spent in Barcelona. Altogether 290 pages of transcription were compiled, with over 16 hours of audio. The main results achieved are the strengthening of Brazilianness as an identity perspective in sound consumption and music as an important source of mnemonic reactivation and affective bonding. The radio, despite being an important vehicle for identity re-signification, proved to be central as a sound production, alongside music. Finally, it is understood that the Brazilianness strengthened by the interviewees differs from that manifested by the Brazilians who still live in Brazil.

Submitted by Bianca CEH/A (bianca.silveira@uerj.br) on 2021-09-24T19:07:01Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Tese - Bárbara Maia - 2021 - Completa.pdf: 1259369 bytes, checksum: c211110e47d54e997fc75702c9d5e1af (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-09-24T19:07:01Z (GMT).
