Resumo: This dissertation addresses the occupations of public schools in Rio de Janeiro by their students, in 2016, in response to the neoliberal rationality in education and the economic crisis that befell the state. It seeks to understand the initial moments and motivations of the occupation movement as well as its development, focusing on the students' proposals and practices in relation to the occupations performed. For this purpose, as research resources, bibliography review on the subject, survey and analysis of newspaper articles and other textual materials that document various aspects of the analyzed process and the context in which the movement takes place are used, as well as interviews made especially with students directly involved in various occupations. The dissertation is structured in 4 chapters, in which, based on authors such as Edward Palmer Thompson, Mauro Iasi, Eder Sader and Breno Bringel, the issue of social transformation is discussed in the first, taking into account the issue of the formation of conscience of class and the production of subjectivities; in the second, neoliberal rationality in education and its implementation in Brazil and Rio de Janeiro; in the third, a theoretical and historical perspective of the student movement, having as references the Reforma de Córdoba, the May of 69, the Rebellion of the Penguins and the student movement in Brazil; and finally the occupation movement based mainly on the report of 6 students. In conclusion, we propose that occupations be understood as a sui generis student movement that can be analyzed both from the structural and conjunctural transformations that the world was experiencing, the country and the state of Rio and Janeiro, as well as their own experiences. We also affirm that the occupations made it possible to produce new subjectivities based on the experiences lived and that, for this reason, they were an example of a form of popular organization that contributes to social transformation.

Submitted by Mariangela CEH/A (marianfig@gmail.com) on 2022-03-11T14:42:08Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Dissertação - Diego Medeiros - 2019 - Completa.pdf: 1628517 bytes, checksum: c2c54cdbfe88a322995047137ddd3431 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-03-11T14:42:08Z (GMT).
