Resumo: | This article aims to analyze the translation strategies of the neologisms created by the American writer George R. R. Martin present in the fantastic literature works of the series of books in English language A Song of Ice and Fire. First, the neologisms of the study corpus were found in their source language (English), using Corpus Linguistics with the aid of software for linguistic analysis in corpora Wordsmith Tools 8.0 (SCOTT, 2021). Then, the lexical creations in English were categorized based on the linguistic processes that form them (STEINBERG, 2003), as well as the procedures or techniques used when translating their correspondents in Portuguese (NEWMARK, 1988) and (BEDNARSKA , 2015). Finally, it was analyzed how one of the neologisms was formed and how its translation was configured. The methodological approach of this research has a quali-quantitative and descriptive character. Qualitative, as it is characteristic of studies carried out in the field of humanities and linguistics, and quantitative, because the number of neologisms found through data collection was considered. At the end of this article, the main findings are the studies on corpus linguistics which, by finding the neologisms within a corpus as vast as the one used, collaborated to carry out this research, especially in terms of time. The theory on Neology and Neologisms demonstrated how to determine what a neologism is, as well as supporting the understanding of new word formation and the understanding of translations. |

The theory on Neology and Neologisms demonstrated how to determine what a neologism is, as well as supporting the understanding of new word formation and the understanding of translations.
