Resumo: ABSTRACTThe concepct with which we approach in this study concerns the notion of “event” and its importance for the understanding of meaning within Language. For that, we made a critical analyses of the definition of the notion of “event” through a text by O. Ducrot, published in the 1980s. We present below the foundations of a perspective that permeates the linguistic-enunciation operation whose concept of “event” is updated in its discursive functioning. We conclude that this is still crucial for the development of studies related to issues of meaning.KEYWORDS: Semantics. Enunciation. Meaning.

Para isso, fizemos uma leitura crítica da definição de acontecimento presente em um texto de O. Ducrot, publicado na década de 1980. A seguir, apresentamos os fundamentos de uma abordagem da enunciação linguística na qual o conceito de acontecimento é atualizado no funcionamento do discurso. Concluímos que ele é ainda fundamental para o desenvolvimento dos estudos da significação. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Semântica. Enunciação. Significação.
