Resumo: In this article we intend to show how, in the song “El Arado” (1965), composed by the Chilean musician Víctor Jara, the composer combines lyrics, melody and harmony in order to represent the work of the rural worker, as well as his hope in the face of the possibilities of change. As references, we make use of the Decolonial Theory and the Tripartite Model of Musical Semiology, as presented by Nattiez. As a conclusion, we could perceive that in this song Jara not only combines musical and expressive elements in order to represent both repetitive manual labor and elements of the environment that surrounds the lyrical self but also the hope of the worker in the face of the option brought about by socialism, placing music as a form of political and revolutionary struggle.

Nepan Editora2022-07-28info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.ufac.br/index.php/mui/article/view/615010.29327/210932.10.1-9Muiraquitã: Revista de Letras e Humanidades; v. 10 n. 1 (2022): Muiraquitã: Revista de Letras e Humanidades 2525-59241807-185610.29327/10.29327/210932.10.1reponame:Muiraquitã (Online)instname:Universidade Federal do Acre (UFAC)instacron:UFACporhttps://periodicos.ufac.br/index.php/mui/article/view/6150/3709Ribeiro, Letícia Porto Messina, Marcelloinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2022-08-10T02:10:42Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/6150Revistahttps://periodicos.ufac.br/revista/index.php/mui/indexPUBhttps://periodicos.ufac.br/revista/index.php/mui/oaimuiraquita.ppgli@ufac.br2525-59241807-1856opendoar:2022-08-10T02:10:42Muiraquitã (Online) - Universidade Federal do Acre (UFAC)false
