This work presents an analysis of the economic impacts caused in the municipality of Delmiro Gouveia, located in the State of Alagoas, after the closing of the Stone Factory, occurred in 2016. This company was responsible for a large part of the city's commerce, through the sale of the products that were produced, and also, through the employees themselves, since a part of the population worked formally in the company, and consequently, with the fixed salary, could do their purchases by all the commerce of the municipality, being that with the dismissal, there was also decrease of the expenses, causing in the profitability of the merchants. Thus, this work aims to understand the social economic impacts on trade, caused by the closure of the Stone Factory. Later, the methodology used was a field survey, in the center of the city, in which semi-structured questionnaires were carried out for six retailers of Delmiro Gouveia, with the intention that the answers obtained would be analyzed. For this, this research was based on the ideas and studies carried out by researchers like Castilho and Miranda (2017); Duarte (2002); Gil (2008); Guerra and Teixeira (2010); and Birth (2013). In this way, this work allowed to understand that there was, yes, a significant economic loss in the commerce of the city, after the Fábrica da Pedra was closed.
