The drainage system is an important mechanism for good urban functioning, it serves so that the routine of the inhabitants of the place, does not change or that there is no material damage or public patrimony in situations that may not be commonplace in some places, but are foreseeable precipitation. The hygienist way in which most systems were designed brought long-term problems brought about by increased urbanization and waterproofing of the soil and as a consequence, overloading of existing systems, flooding and deterioration of the infrastructure there. In view of this, the work presents a case study that aims at the sizing and comparison of micro and macrodrain structures. For this, it diagnoses the current situation of the micro and macrodrain devices of the Residential under study, sizing and detailing the devices referring to micro and macrodrain and performs comparative analysis of the project executed with the project proposed here. The calculations were made with equations and parameters recommended in urban drainage manuals and plans of some cities and by means of spreadsheets. The comparative analysis between the proposed design and the executed project revealed that the use of pavements is a good ally for more economical and efficient projects and that the design of detention basins is an alternative that while providing a mitigation in the impact of the waterproofing of the occupation of the area, can also be used as an instrument of interaction between the population and the urban environment.
