This research objective to analyze the techniques of Living with the Semi-Arid and the memory of the drought of the Kalankó indigenous people, located in the municipality of Água Branca in the high Sertão of Alagoas. To this end, the paradigms of Combating Drought are contrasted with that of Living with the Semi-Arid, starting from the inherent experiences of the group, the first in the composition of the service fronts of the Superintendency of Development of the Northeast (SUDENE) based on the group's memories. according to Articulation in the Brazilian Semi-Arid (ASA) and the techniques and technologies that justify it as a way out of geographic and biological determinism, observing how the Kalankó deal with the respective approaches, observing the drought as a stimulus to technological inventiveness and considering its process ethnic reaffirmation and the (re) construction of their self-image related to the political organization of the group. The research has as a field of Social Anthropology and interacts with methodological bases of ethnography, interviews, production of mental or imaginary maps, bibliographical and documentary research. The main conclusions are to see the specificities of the group, in relation to their practices , techniques of Living with the Semi-Arid and their memories in relation to the concept of combating drought, from agricultural conceptions, livestock, human-animal, genealogical, ritualistic , cosmological and ethnobiological, from their relationship with the environment in which they are inserted and directly dialogue, resulting in their political organization, relating to external groups and subjects, creating strategies to meet the demands of Indians who are also "sertanejos".
