The present research aims to elucidate the trajectory of japanese language education at the Nipo Brazilian Association of Western Amazon - NIPPAKU, relying on primary sources such as monthly newsletters and questionnaires distributed to four teachers with over ten years of teaching experience within the institution. This research importance lies in the lack of academic works that seek to describe the trajectory of japanese language teaching in the Association. In this context, this study primarily endeavors to provide a concise historical overview of the Association and the teaching of the japanese language, particularly emphasizing the factors that contributes to the current successed teaching method of the institution. The theoretical framework are based on the assumptions elucidated by Vilson J. Leffa (1999), who examines the relevance of foreign languages within the national context, exploring the historical evolution of this role for a deeper understanding of the current scenario. As a result of this research, japanese language education at NIPPAKU stands out both quantitatively and qualitatively, facilitating the dissemination of japanese education and culture in the state of Amazonas.
