In the whole world, actions aimed at accountability, transparency and accountability aim to guarantee good public governance, ensuring access to information on the behavior of public institutions. The present study aims to analyze the perception of citizens in the applicability of vertical accountability carried out by the municipal executive of Benjamin Constant - AM, the nature of the study is exploratory and descriptive, for that, bibliographical research was used to base the research, qualitative research it was carried out through a semi-structured interview with the students of the Administration course at the Instituto de Natureza e Cultura - UFAM, which allowed me to answer the specific objectives, a) Identify the understanding of the population in relation to the term accountability; b) verify the tools used by the municipal executive for accountability perceived by the population; c) analyze the quality of communication of the vertical accountability used. The results are satisfactory for the research and respond to the objectives, the population understands accountability as being very important for public management and indicates radio and social networks as extremely important tools for the dissemination of information, however, due to access difficulties to quality internet, information doesn't reach a large part of the general population and many times when it does, it is poorly understood by the formal language used by public agents.
