Resumo: Volleyball is a popular sport in Brazil that is widely practiced and taught in schools. It is the second most popular sport in the country. As a result, there is a lot of discussion about the best approaches to teaching it. Different pedagogical approaches have been adopted to teach volleyball. Traditional methods focus on fragmented technical education, including partial and global approaches. However, contemporary approaches prioritize teaching through games and student-centered situations. Two examples of contemporary approaches are the Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) method and Sports Education. This literature review aims to describe pedagogical approaches to teaching volleyball in educational and sporting contexts. The research was conducted through analysis of scientific articles, books, and dissertations. It is the teacher's responsibility to choose the most suitable pedagogical approach based on various factors such as the students' skill level, teaching goals, practice conditions, and available resources. There is no single method that is superior to others, and the teacher must keep learning to effectively adapt to student needs

Consequentemente, o ensino de sua prática retorna discussão sobre as melhores abordagens para ensiná-lo. Diferentes abordagens pedagógicas têm sido adotadas para o ensino do voleibol. Os métodos tradicionais concentram-se no ensino técnico fragmentado, incluindo abordagens parciais e globais. Contudo, as abordagens contemporâneas priorizam o ensino através de jogos e situações centradas no aluno. Dois exemplos de abordagens contemporâneas são o método Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) e a Educação Esportiva. Responsabilidade do professor é escolher a abordagem pedagógica mais adequada com base em vários fatores, como o nível de habilidade dos alunos, objetivos de ensino, condições de prática e recursos disponíveis.
