On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared that the world was experiencing a pandemic due to the new coronavirus. The objective of this work was to analyze the panorama of research and public policies focused on COVID-19, mapping the development of technologies related to the theme. The research had a descriptive and exploratory character, when analyzing informations from bibliographic references, focusing on the PubMed repository. The quantitative technological prospecting about coronavirus, through 06 patent sources, complements this qualitative analysis. With the global crisis caused by COVID-19, the production of knowledge and digital platforms has been extremely accelerated in a short time. Virtually all countries were affected by the pandemic, and those who understood the seriousness of the situation more quickly, and implemented assertive policies and technologies, were able to mitigate short-term impacts, especially with regard to preserving lives.
