São Bernardo do Campo, 2022A pandemia do Coronavírus-19 afetou significativamente a economia brasileira e seu mercado de trabalho, atingindo sobretudo os grupos demográficos mais vulneráveis. Esta dissertação teve dois objetivos principais. Primeiro, avalia-se as diferenças de desempenho entre homens e mulheres no mercado de trabalho brasileiro, tanto do ponto de vista da perda de emprego quanto das horas trabalhadas, utilizando os microdados trimestrais da PNAD-Contínua. A análise sugere que o ajuste foi desigual, tanto na ocupação como na jornada de trabalho. Encontrou-se um aumento estatisticamente significativo e duradouro do gap na ocupação entre homens e mulheres a partir do segundo trimestre de 2020, com destaque para o aumento mais pronunciado da desigualdade em famílias com crianças em idade escolar. Também há evidências de que o ajuste na margem intensiva foi maior entre as mulheres, com aumento expressivo do gap de gênero nas horas trabalhadas. Em segundo lugar, avalia-se se a crise afetou o emprego feminino de forma heterogênea. A análise sugere que as mulheres não brancas e as mães-solo tiveram um ajuste maior, sobretudo no nível de ocupação.The Coronavirus-19 pandemic has significantly affected the Brazilian economy and its labor market, particularly affecting the most vulnerable demographic groups. This dissertation had two main objectives. First, the performance differences between men and women in the Brazilian labor market are evaluated, both from the job loss and hours worked perspective, using quarterly microdata from the PNAD-Continua. The analysis suggests that the adjustment was unequal, both in terms of occupation and working hours. A statistically significant and lasting increase in the gap in occupation between men and women was found from the second quarter of 2020, with more pronounced increase in inequality in families with school-age children. There is also evidence that the adjustment in the intensive margin was greater among women, with a significant increase in the gender gap in hours worked. Second, it assesses whether the crisis has affected female employment in a heterogeneous way.
