Delivery platforms and the relationship between “subcontracted partners”

Resumo: The study is part of the research project entitled “Work, Violence and Citizenship”. The objective was to analyze the relationship of motoboys with the "social actors" involved in the subcontracting network forged by the platform companies. The investigation was carried out in the city of Natal/RN and was based on primary data collected from twenty-two (22) motoboys who provide services for different delivery applications and from one (1) interview with a former outsourced employee of the company subcontracted by iFood, in addition to a bibliography related to the theme. The testimonies of these workers exposed not only the social actors involved in the dynamics of a delivery service, but also the level of sociability that is established between them in their daily work. It was found that the relationship established between the "partners" involved in the delivery service is not always harmonious; in fact, sometimes it is marked "by neglect, humiliation, indifference and disrespect", as could be identified in the workers’ reports.

El objetivo fue analizar la relación de los motoboys con los "actores sociales" involucrados en la red de subcontratación forjada por las empresas de la plataforma. La investigación fue realizada en la ciudad de Natal/RN y se basó en datos primarios recolectados de veintidós (22) mensajeros que prestan servicios para diferentes aplicaciones de entrega, y en una (1) entrevista con un ex trabajador subcontratado en la empresa subcontratado por iFood. Los testimonios de estos trabajadores expusieron no solo a los actores sociales que intervienen en la dinámica de un servicio de entrega, sino también el nivel de sociabilidad que se establece entre ellos en su trabajo diario. Se constató que la relación que se establece entre los “socios” que intervienen en el servicio de entrega no siempre es armónica, de hecho, en ocasiones está marcada “por el abandono, la humillación, la indiferencia y la falta de respeto”, como se pudo identificar en los relatos de los trabajadores.O estudo é parte do projeto de pesquisa intitulado “Trabalho, Violência e Cidadania”. O objetivo foi analisar a relação dos motoboys com os “atores sociais” envolvidos na rede de subcontratação forjada pelas empresas-plataformas. A investigação se desenvolveu na cidade do Natal/RN e se fundamentou em dados primários recolhidos junto a vinte e dois (22) entregadores que prestam serviços para distintos aplicativos de delivery e em uma (1) entrevista com uma ex-funcionária terceirizada da empresa subcontratada pelo iFood, além de uma bibliografia afeita à temática. Os depoimentos desses trabalhadores expuseram não somente os atores sociais envolvidos na dinâmica de um serviço de entrega, como também o nível de sociabilidade que se estabelece entre eles no cotidiano laboral.
