Resumo: This essay discusses the concept of Work presented by the brazilian prescribed curriculum of Technical Professional Education at High School (TPEHS) based on the theoretical and methodological contribution of the Dialectical Historical Materialism. Such documents attempted to overcome the duality between propaedeutic training and professional qualification and present the concept of Work as an essential foundation of the subject as an ontological, historical and social being. However, the curriculum is designed and organized based on a marketing logic, which understends professional training as a way to attend economic demands, maintaining the status quo and not being consistent with teh idea of Work stated by the TPEHS curriculum.

Los documentos intentaron superar la dualidad entre formación propedéutica y formación profesional y presentar el concepto de Trabajo como fundamento esencial del sujeto como ser ontológico, histórico y social. Sin embargo, el plan de estudios está diseñado y organizado con base en una lógica de marketing, que entiende la formación profesional como una forma de satisfacer las demandas económicas, manteniendo el status quo y, por tanto, no se corresponde con la idea de Trabajo que presenta la EPTNM.O presente ensaio discute sobre o conceito de Trabalho apresentado em currículos prescritos da Educação Profissional Técnica de Nível Médio (EPTNM) brasileira e tem como aporte teórico-metodológico o Materialismo Histórico Dialético. Tais documentos tentaram superar a dualidade entre a formação propedêutica e a formação profissional e apresentam o conceito de Trabalho como fundamento essencial do sujeito enquanto ser ontológico, histórico e social.
