MERGERS, ACQUISITIONS AND DIVISIONS AND REFLECTION IN THE VALUE OF THE MARKET OF COMPANIES: A STUDY IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF CORE BUSINESS

Resumo: This article aims to evaluate the evolution of operating profit organizations before and after performing mergers, acquisitions or spin-offs, considering these activities as movements adjacent, or not, to its core business, based on Zook's theory (2003). For this, we used the exploratory research with a quantitative approach, through the selection of five emblematic cases. The results showed that organizations when presented expansion projects with adjacent movements close to the core business or when they realized divisions in order to better focus on their core business, appreciated by their actions in their respective stock exchanges.

Para ello, se utilizó la investigación exploratoria, con enfoque cuantitativo, a través de la selección de los cinco casos emblemáticos. Los resultados mostraron que las organizaciones cuando se mostraron los proyectos de expansión con movimientos adyacentes cercanas al negocio principal o cuando se toman las decisiones con el fin de centrarse más en su negocio principal, mostró una apreciación de sus acciones en sus respectivas bolsas de valores.Este artigo tem como objetivo avaliar a evolução de resultados operacionais de organizações antes e depois de realizarem fusões, aquisições ou cisões, considerando estas atividades como movimentos adjacentes ou não ao seu core business com base na teoria de Zook (2003). Para isso, utilizou-se da pesquisa descritiva, de abordagem quantitativa, por meio da seleção de quatro casos emblemáticos.
