Life quality of students of a public university in Ceará state

Resumo: | We aimed at evaluating the life quality of students of a public university in Ceará state. A transversal study with a quantitative approach developed during the first semester of 2019 with 880 students enrolled in the nineteen graduation courses of a public university of Ceará state countryside. The instrument used was the WHOQOL – bref. The majority, 58,2%, was women, and 85,8% were between 18 and 25 years old. The rates of Life Quality domains were physical (60,6), social relations (59,9), psychological (56,2), and environment (50,9). Men presented better life quality levels in physical (p<0,0001), psychological (p=0,0001), and environment (p=0,005) domains. About age gaps, the environment domain presented itself as statistically significant in ages between 18 and 20 (p=0,044). Regarding marital status, there was a statistically significant difference between psychological (p=0,004) and social relations (p=0,049) domains. This indicates that having a love relationship presented better LQ (Life Quality) rates. The suggestion is that the university proposes actions that aim to increase the life quality of its students and to do so, this group must be systematically heard about their difficulties and psychosocial demands. |

Estudo transversal com abordagem quantitativa, realizado no primeiro semestre de 2019, com 880 estudantes matriculados nos 19 cursos de graduação de uma universidade pública do interior do Ceará. O instrumento utilizado foi o WHOQOL-bref. A maioria 58,2% eram mulheres, e 85,8% tinham entre 18 a 25 anos. As médias dos domínios da Qualidade de Vida fora: físico (60,6), relações sociais (59,9), psicológico (56,2) e meio ambiente (50,9). Os homens apresentaram melhores níveis de qualidade de vida nos domínios físico (p<0,0001), psicológico (p=0,001) e meio ambiente (p=0,005). Na faixa etária, o domínio meio ambiente apresentou-se estatisticamente significativo na idade entre 18 a 20 anos (p=0,044). No quesito situação conjugal, houve uma diferença estatisticamente significante nos domínios psicológico (p=0,004) e relações sociais (p=0,049), indicando, que ter um relacionamento amoroso apresentou melhores médias de QV.
