Study of informational practices by means of the documentary method

Resumo: The objective of this paper is to present the findings of a theoretical investigation on the applicability of the principles of the Praxeological Sociology of Knowledge, through the Documentary Method, as a tool for studying informational practices in social groups. Such investigation is justified as a contribution to the search for ways to study the social and interactive informational mechanisms from the perspective of the social paradigm in Information Sciences. The methodology adopted was exploratory research, based on a non-systematic review of scientific literature on qualitative research in the Social Sciences. The discussion conducted indicates the points of contact between the Praxeological Sociology of Knowledge and the perspectives of study of informational practices, especially regarding the collective construction of meanings, concluding for the applicability of the Documentary Method in that study.  It is expected to contribute to enrich the theoretical and methodological bases for the understanding of the informational phenomenon.

Tal investigação se justifica como contribuição à busca por formas de estudar os mecanismos sociais e interativos na informação sob a perspectiva do paradigma social na Ciência da Informação. A metodologia adotada foi a pesquisa exploratória, baseada em revisão não sistemática de literatura científica sobre métodos de pesquisa qualitativa nas Ciências Sociais.
