It was investigated the male nurses from the courses of specialization that took place in the period from 1980 to 1996, being used a questionnaire to collect the depositions. The results showed that 54% of the studied male nurses took Course of Specialization in Doctor-Surgical Nursing, 74% took the experience of doing a research to write the course’ monograph, 100% of the ones that accomplished research considers it as essential, because the production of the knowledge contributes to amplification of the science, in the case, the nursing.
