Resumo: In this paper we intend to understand the reasons beneath Eric Weil’s decision to stick on the controversial figure of the hero in his Philosophie morale, published in 1961, through a detailed analysis of the texts concerned with it. As we acknowledged a constant and consistent dialogue with the versions of moral heroism of Henri Bergson and Karl Jaspers, from which he retakes the main thesis, but in a subversive way that leads to a paradoxical representation, we went on to search for the internal interactions between the Philosophie morale and the Logique de la philosophie, his masterwork, that could explain such deviations. This procedure leaded us to sustain the argument that the author kept the category of moral heroism based on discursive necessity, instead of historical or cultural one, and that this way of conceiving it was precisely his original contribution.
