Resumo: This article’s propose is to investigate advertisements published on newspapers representatives of professionals associations of Florianópolis in the 1930s. We propose to utilize the notion Habitus by Pierre Bourdieu to study those advertisements, especially to comprehend differences among lifestyles and preferences on different social classes. We selected four newspapers, two of them more connected to popular classes, one representative of pharmacists and another mainly connected to merchants of Santa Catarina’s Capital. It was possible to perceive that advertisements were carriers of distinction signals that adapted according to the target audience. They also provide the possibility to comprehend differences of preferences and necessities in the society.

É proposto utilizar a noção Habitus, a partir de Pierre Bourdieu, para estudar tais anúncios, principalmente buscando compreender diferenças entre estilos de vida e gosto pelo recorte da classe social. Foram selecionados quatro periódicos, dois mais conectados com classes de trabalhadores mais populares, outro representava farmacêuticos e o último principalmente ligado a comerciantes da capital catarinense.
