Resumo: This study was conducted in a geographical, social and demographic microcosm where the borders of Brazil, Colombia and Peru converge. Its uniqueness is that it is far from large urban centers that force its residents to interact in different practical aspects of everyday life. This research is aimed to answer how and why it occurs cross-border use of obstetric services at birth by women living in the triple border. The methodology was qualitative type and responds to case studies for this semi-structured interviews to understand the social practice of having the child in another country is carried out. The results reveal the existence of a pattern cross-border use built from nationality, motivation and destination of the mother when giving birth.
