Resumo: Changes occurred in families brought inside households in Brazil changes in the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren. This research aimed at learning about the speech of the elderly concerning intergenerational relationships as a child and nowadays, and also at identifying the changes they noticed in the intergenerational relations in the context of the current family as well as of their antecedents. This is a descriptive study with qualitative approach developed in the city of Fortaleza. The sample consisted of 12 elderly people, and it was used the interview technique for data collection. Data was organized by using the Collective Subject Discourse. It was noticed in the speeches that there were changes in the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren. Previously, there was a good relationship between grandparents and grandchildren, with clear rules. Currently, there are some conflicts to be taken into consideration among which is highlighted loss of authority, affection and fear.

Objetivou-se conhecer os discursos dos idosos quanto às relações intergeracionais quando criança e hoje; e identificar as mudanças das relações intergeracionais percebidas pelo idoso no contexto da família atual e de seus antecedentes. Estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa realizado no município de Fortaleza. A amostra foi composta por 12 idosos, sendo utilizada a técnica de entrevista para coleta dos dados. Para organização dos dados utilizou-se o Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo. A partir dos discursos formulados, percebeu-se que houve mudanças na relação entre avós e netos. Antigamente, havia um bom relacionamento entre avós e netos, com regras claras. Atualmente há uma série de conflitos entre eles, dentre os quais se destaca a perda da autoridade, do afeto e do medo.Los cambios ocurridos en las familias trajeron al interior de los hogares brasileños modificaciones de las relaciones entre abuelos y nietos. Se pretendió conocer los discursos de los ancianos mientras a las relaciones intergeneracionales cuando niño y hoy; e identificar los cambios de las relaciones intergeneracionales percibidas por los ancianos en el contexto de la familia actual y de sus antecedentes. Estudio descriptivo, con enfoque cualitativo, desarrollado en Fortaleza-CE,Brasil. La muestra consistió de 12 adultos ancianos, utilizando la técnica de entrevista para la recolección de datos. Para la organización de datos, se ha utilizado el Discurso del Sujeto Colectivo. De los discursos, se percibió que hubo cambios en la relación entre abuelos y nietos. Antes, había una buena relación entre abuelos y nietos, con reglas claras.
