Resumo: The present work aims to study the Maria da Penha Law 11.340, of August 7, 2006, whose objective is to penalize more harshly to violence against women and to take a precautionary approach against future attacks. The focus of study will be the constitutionality of the law and analysis of protective measures that oblige the offender and the protective measures to women. There will be the study of the various types of violence as well as the reporting of case studies. The advances brought by this law will be jointly examined as relevant points as the women fight to end domestic violence. Another objective of this thesis is the study of conventions and treaties signed by Brazil who were responsible for giving all the formal structure of the law.

O foco de estudo será a constitucionalidade da lei referida e a análise das medidas protetivas que obrigam o agressor e as medidas protetivas em favor das mulheres. Haverá o estudo dos vários tipos de violências bem como o relato de casos práticos. Os avanços trazidos por esta lei serão conjuntamente enfocados como pontos relevantes como a luta das mulheres pelo fim da violência doméstica.
