Resumo: | The inequality between men and women throughout time in society has culminated in the rise of sexist attitudes and practices in the workplace, among them, the sexual harassment, a perverse practice against women. In the context of the Executive Secretariat profession, this study aims at identifying the connection between the sexual harassment in the work of the professional woman and the machismo present in everyone’s daily work relationships. The specific objectives are: i) to identify, based upon female secretaries’ perspective, if there are incentives that may lead to a harassment situation in the relationship boss/secretary; ii) to understand what female secretaries, who suffered harassment, did when it happened; iii) to understand the possible reflections of sexual harassment in workplace. This study corroborates the intense recent discussion about sexual harassment of women and sexism in society. In addition, there is a lag of studies on that subject in the Executive Secretariat area of the Federal University of Ceará, since the last research on this topic was carried out almost two decades ago. The research is descriptive, regarding objectives, and qualitative, regarding nature. Furthermore, the research is bibliographical and documentary. A questionnaire was used to collect data. A field research with female secretaries was conducted to understand their perceptions and experiences concerning sexual harassment and machismo in workplace (GIL, 2014). Results showed that 79.3% of applicants have suffered with machismo, and 51.7% of them have suffered sexual harassment, both situations in workplace. The impunity of the harasser (51.7%) and the power hierarchy (48.3%) were the main factors pointed out as an incentive to sexual harassment by the secretaries. 56.3% of the applicants have not told anyone about the incident and 62.5% of them justified such attitude with fear of exposure. 79.3% and 69% of the applicants listed, respectively, machismo and lack of legal penalties as a reflex for sexual harassment practice. Conclusion is that there is a strong relationship between machismo and sexual harassment at workplace, which shows little progress regarding equality of rights between men and women at work. |

No contexto da profissão de Secretariado Executivo, esse estudo tem como objetivo geral identificar a relação entre o assédio sexual no labor da profissional e o machismo presente em nossas relações cotidianas de trabalho. Quanto aos objetivos específicos, são eles: i) identificar - com base na percepção por parte das secretárias -, se na relação chefe/secretária, há incentivos que possam levar ao desenvolvimento de uma relação de assédio; ii) compreender o que as secretárias que sofreram assédio fizeram diante do ocorrido; iii) compreender quais os possíveis reflexos do assédio sexual no trabalho. O presente estudo corrobora com a intensa discussão – nos últimos tempos - acerca do assédio sexual às mulheres e do machismo na sociedade, além da defasagem de estudos na área de Secretariado desta Universidade – tendo sua última pesquisa realizada há quase duas décadas. A pesquisa, quanto aos objetivos, é definida como descritiva; quanto à natureza, encaixa-se como qualitativa. Com relação aos delineamentos, o estudo é bibliográfico e documental. Utilizou-se de questionário como ferramenta de coleta de dados, na qual foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo com profissionais secretárias para entender suas percepções e experiências em relação ao assédio sexual e ao machismo no trabalho (GIL, 2014). Os achados da pesquisa denotaram que 79,3% das entrevistadas já sofreram machismo, tendo 51,7% delas já terem sofrido assédio sexual, ambos os resultados no âmbito profissional. A impunidade do assediador (51,7%) e a hierarquia do poder (48,3%) foram os principais fatores apontados como incentivo ao assédio sexual pelas secretárias participantes. 56,3% das entrevistadas não contaram a ninguém acerca do ocorrido, tendo 62,5% delas justificado a atitude pelo medo da exposição. 79,3% e 69% das entrevistadas listaram, respectivamente, o machismo e a falta de aplicação de penalidade jurídica, quando denunciado, como reflexos para a prática do assédio sexual.
