The theme of this work is the emotional impact of the home office modality of work carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The objective was to analyze the emotional effects caused by the modality of remote work, having as the research’s target audience workers who produce immaterial work. For the empirical study, surveys performed at the national level on external control auditors were selected, with a focus on employees of the Court of Auditors in Brazil. This is a qualitative research, with descriptive objectives. In relation to the methods, it is classified as a bibliographic and documentary study. Based on theoretical framework on the concept of sociology of work and employment articulated with sociology of emotions, it is understood that the Covid-19 pandemic and the need to work in the home office format can generate a series of negative consequences ranging from the physical to the mental scope. As demonstrated in the analyzed research, which uses as a sample the control auditors of the Courts of Auditors at a national level, the transition to work in the virtual modality took place in a less problematic way, either because these workers had support from the public institutions where they work, or by the structure they have in their homes to carry out the work.
